Please
review and comply with the following standards
for PACKAGING and CONTENTS:
For
the protection of our fellow citizens, anything
that does not comply with O.I. standards will
be discarded by base security.
PACKAGING:
- Consider
that the person to whom you send items may have
to carry everything received in a backpack or
be limited in his or her ability to store items
- Pack
each C-Rat in a one-quart size, resealable
plastic baggie (such as Ziploc brand)
-
Each C-Rat is to be placed with all other C-RatsTM
into one cardboard shipping box (the
approximate size of a case of paper) -- one
C-Rat for each person in the platoon or group.
- Cardboard
Shipping Boxes can be NO HEAVIER than 30
lbs.
- The
return address of the Box Coordinator
must be affixed to the upper left side of the
box, just as a return address of an envelope.
Remember, the box will be shipped via the U.S.
Post Office.
- Boxes
are to be completely sealed with shipping tape
on creases and bottom of box. The top should
have a single tape across the long opening for
easy access by the inspector. Sign the top
of the tape to ensure the inspector can
determine if the box has been tampered with.
- The
contents of each box must be inventoried and
the inventory sheet must be affixed to
the front of the box in such a manner so that
base security can easily remove and review the
list. You must include a customs form available
from your local post office. The form must be
complete and signed by the coordinator.
